Series the character is from: Chobits Point in canon they're being taken from: Brief background : Yumi is a high-school student who works at the bar with Hideki. A few times she had cooked things for him, and on one occasion they had even gone out on a ‘date’. Once, when Hideki was walking with Yumi he mentioned his persocom. Yumi seemed to be sad, but quickly brushed it off so as not to worry him. After that, Hideki noticed that whenever persocoms were mentioned Yumi seemed to become depressed. Yumi once asked Hideki if he wanted to go to a cafe with her, but he said that he couldn’t because he had to pick Chi up from the Chiroru bakery. Yumi quickly left and didn’t show up to work the next day. When Chi was kidnapped, the owner of Chiroru, Hiroyasu Ueda, wanted to talk with Hideki. He told Hideki about his marriage to and love for a persocom named Yumi. Ueda told him that he couldn’t bring himself to buy another persocom, but did hire another girl, who he had also fallen for. After his story, Hideki saw someone run away and caught them. The person turned out to be a crying Yumi, who again ran away without word. After the whole kidnapping ordeal, Hideki took Chi to Chiroru to check in with Ueda. Chi said she wanted to work for the day, but changed into a uniform that Ueda had meant for someone else. Yumi was Yumi told Hideki that Ueda had told her the uniform was especially made for her. Hideki then figured out that Yumi was the one who formerly worked at Chiroru, and the one Ueda had fallen for. Yumi also told him about how she fell in love with Ueda, but thought it was wrong because of their age difference. Ueda told her that he loved her as well, but also thought it was wrong because he was married (even though she was six feet under). Yumi didn’t question him about it, but when she was doing research she found the video files of both the marriage and the funeral and found out the wife’s name was ‘Yumi’. Along with her being a persocom that she died for him, human Yumi saw no way that she could compete with persocom Yumi, because she was human and wasn’t perfect. She confessed that being compared to a persocom terrified her, and she broke up with Ueda because of that fear. Ueda came then, and explained to Yumi that he married his wife because of who she was, not what she was. He told her that he was never confused about which Yumi was which, and that she, the human Yumi, was the one who brought him back from the sorrow of his loss. Ueda also told Yumi that he would have probably fallen in love with her even if she was another persocom. After that, Ueda and Yumi continued their relationship. Cuz, y’know, they’re OTP. Personality : Yumi is very kind and is a caring person. She’s sweet to everyone, but not in a ‘uke’ way. During most of her storyline, Yumi is very self-conscious when it comes to persocoms and sees herself as inferior. Some of this can be seen as a branch from normal teenage insecurities, but only some. Her love for Ueda was what made her feel truly insecure. While she is a kind girl, she is also a forward one; like when Hideki glanced at her chest and she clearly stated that she was and E-cup. | ||||||||||
